Oracle Utilities Developer - CC&B Jobs

This is a 3 Year Fixed Term Contract job of CC&B Technical support.

The Company:
A leading Irish energy supplier, Bord Gáis (BG) is liable for building, owning and operating transmission and distribution networks delivering natural gas to over 600,000 industrial, commercial and residential consumers. The corporation is also a key energy supplier, serving both the gas and electrical energy retail markets in Ireland. The liberalization of Irish and European energy markets brings new challenges for the company. So as to help us meet those challenges, applications are now invited from suitably qualified candidates for the position of Oracle Utilities Analyst/Developer.

The role of Oracle Utilities Developer CC&B:
Reporting to the BG Energy IT Utilities Senior Developer, this role will troubleshoot, maintain and enhance the operation of the batch scheduler, and the operations of a number of other Energy IT applications and interfaces – focused on the maintain of the billing operation, at the heart of which is the Oracle Utilities Customer Care and Billing application (CC&B). This is a hand on technical role involve programming/technical skills. This position would suit graduates keen to increase experience and acquire new skills in a dynamic fast moving development environment. The winning candidate will be required to work as an associate of the 24x7 batch schedule support team. Training will be provided as required.

Responsibilities of Oracle Utilities Developer:
•Write technical specifications
• Deliver work packages to time/budget
• Adhere to IT development procedures and standards
• Conduct root cause analysis, run traces, review logs.
• Ensure compliance with Bord Gais security guidelines
•To provide operational, maintenance and development services to support Energy IT applications, primarily the UC4 batch schedule operation, Oracle Utilities CC&B Interfaces (Java/XML), and Doc 1 bill and letter printing application
• To provide technical solutions and support to other Energy IT Workstreams and projects as required
• Fulfill all reporting and monitoring requirements
• Apply best practice software development, testing and change control methodologies
• Other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Qualifications required:
• Java/XML development experience is mandatory
• Experience of using one or more of the following: HTML, SQL, Weblogic, Tomcat, Oracle RDBMS, Web development
• Competent analyst and at trouble shooting, debugging, running traces, investigating logs
• Experience of working as part of 24X7 operational support team would be an advantage as would any experience of supporting complex integrated application architectures
• Ability to deal comfortably with non technical users
• Degree or equivalent in Business, Engineering or IT discipline
• Knowledge of industry-standard methodologies, tools and environments
• Strong communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.
• Experience of supporting any of the following applications would be advantageous: Oracle Utilities Customer Care and Billing (CC&B) V2.*, UC4 batch scheduler, Doc 1 v5 bill/letter printing application.
• This is a ‘can do’ role suited to a self starter with a proactive approach to problem solving and systems development. The candidate should be comfortable working in demanding rapidly changing environment.
